According to Kiarostamis narration, Hafez is a selection of the most beautiful and best lyrics of Hafez Shirazis lyric poems selected by Abbas Kiarostami, the late director of our country. In this book, he has tried to separate the verse from its main context, that is, the whole lyric, in a way that highlights its unique identity. The author has covered 647 verses in 18 chapters based on their common theme, the title of each chapter is taken from Hafezs own poems. Abbas Kiarostami says in an interview with Parviz Jahed about the book: "Some criticize this collection that I made. Why did you go for poetry? You did photography and film. Anyway, I shouldnt be known as a filmmaker. I make a film every two years. Sometimes I do photography. But I also have a life as an Iranian. I also have a private personal life. In my locked room, I sometimes go to books and read poetry. "Reading what I have seen or read is part of my natural right, and we should not worry that Hafez has been manipulated. It has been violated either by those who love Hafez or by those who specialize in poetry and literature."
